Tasting Notes
We love our teas year round. So for the colder months ahead, we crafted this masala hard chai. On first pour, the uncarbonated, hazy elixir emits a warm and spicy aroma. The clean body perfectly blends spicy/sweet herbs, a nuttiness from whole leaf Darjeeling tea, a kiss of sweetness and a slick oatmeal body. If you so choose, serve it warm to expose the alcoholic nip and further bring out the spice character and it will start feeling like a hot toddy.
Secret TEchniques:
We start this tea blend by blending oat flakes with warm water and strain out the solids. Then whole leaf Darjeeling tea and masala spices are steeped in house-made oat milk. The masala spiced oat milk is blended with a seltzer base to provide a light body with minimal alcoholic character.
Although none of the ingredients contain gluten, the oats are likely to be processed on machinery that also processes wheat for this with high gluten sensitivity.
Secret TEAs and Spices:
Oat Milk - we brew our oat milk in house from flaked oats and blend into the alcoholic base
Darjeeling black- grown in the foothills of the Himalayas, this tea adds a a rich color, touch of astringency, and raisined blackberry note
Ceylon Cinnamon - known as true cinnamon, this type is produced in Sri Lanka, of cinnamon is less spicy and has lower levels of coumarin
Cardamom seeds - produced in Guatemala, cardamom seeds have an unique, intense aromatic fragrance
Ginger Root - Dried ginger has a characteristic pungent, hot, tangy taste
