German style

German style beers run through our blood, because we drink a lot of them. But not necessarily the post-Reinheitsgebot lagers you are most familiar with. Truth is before the lager imperialist spread their so called “purity" laws” aimed to prop up hops, most German towns had their own unique beer style influenced by the ingredients (including water) available to them. While style such as kölsch, alt and Berliner weisse may remain in the public eye. There was also a lot of weird shit. Goses were cool for a bit in the mid 2010s, but how about Kotbussers, Broyhans, Hamburgers, Münsters, Danzigers, Ducksteins, Merseburgers, Lübeckers, and Braunschweiger Mummes?

Pilsner (the most successful “German” style of beer) is named after the town of Pilsen which is in the Czech Republic.
